The SL150 Modular Tape Library System manages user access to the system by user and role, an approach known as Role-Based Access Control (RBAC). An administrator creates individual user accounts for each person that needs access to the system. Each account has its own, uniquely identifiable log-in name and personal password, so individual users can be readily audited. The administrator then assigns each account to a distinct role with a predefined set access privileges. This chapter outlines the basic tasks:
To add a user account, proceed as follows:
Select Settings from the menu on the left side of the interface. A set of tabbed property sheets appears.
Select the Users tab.
Click the Add User icon in the menu bar at the top of the tab.
When the Add User dialog appears, enter a User ID in the first text field provided. User IDs must be unique.
For example, the user's email address makes a good user ID.
In the next text field, enter the Password for the account.
Re-enter the password in the Verify Password text field.
Select the desired role for the user from the choices listed in the Assigned Role control: Administrator, Operator, Viewer, and Service.
Press the OK button to commit your changes and dismiss the dialog, or press the Cancel button to discard the changes.
To remove a user account from the system, proceed as follows:
Log in under the Administrator role.
Only administrators can change passwords.
Select Settings from the menu on the left side of the interface. A set of tabbed property sheets appears.
Select the Users tab.
Select the account by clicking on the corresponding table row.
Click the Delete User icon in the menu bar above the table to open the Delete User dialog.
Press the OK button to commit your changes and dismiss the dialog, or press the Cancel button to discard the changes.
