Oracle® Insurance Policy Administration 9.3.1.0 E21044_01
The Segment link from the Left Navigation menu allows segments such as coverages, extensions and riders to be added to a policy.
The first segment added to a policy varies depending on the type of policy. Policy types are listed below along with the corresponding initial segment that should be added when setting up the policy.
For a term life policy, the first segment that needs to be added is Base Coverage. This identifies the amount of insurance coverage included in the policy. Segments that represent a feature or a rider can also be added to the policy. To do this, follow the steps outlined below, selecting the rider from the drop down list.
For a variable annuity policy, the first segment that should be added is Deferred Annuity.
For a unit linked policy, the first segment that should be added is Base Coverage.
Note: Segments can only be deleted if the policy is in pending status. After the policy becomes active, segments cannot be deleted.
