Activitites That Generate Segments

Transactions can be configured in the Rules Palette to generate segments when processed in OIPA.  This is important since segments cannot be deleted or added through the Segment screen after a policy is active.  There are special circumstances that require segments to be added after a policy is active and this functionality allows the user to manage those situations.

 

If an activity that adds segments has been configured, it will be available in the Add Activity drop down list when an active policy is open.

 

 Steps to Process an Activity to Generate a Segment

  1. Navigate to the Activity screen.

  2. Click the Add Activity link.

  3. Select the Add Coverage activity from the drop down list.  This activity will only be available when a policy is in active status.

  4. Enter the date when the new segment is effective.  The segment type and coverage amount are part of the activity's configuration and are not added through this screen.

  5. Click OK.

  6. Click the lightning bolt icon next to the activity on the Activity screen.  The activity will become active.

 

To verify that the coverage was added, click the Segment link on the Left Navigation menu.  The new coverage information should appear on the Segment screen.
