This document contains important information about the McDATA QPM 4 Gb 4-port Blade hardware installed in Sun storage area networks (SANs).
Read this document so that you are aware of issues or requirements that can affect the installation and operation of the McDATA QPM 4 Gb 4-port Blade in a Sun SAN.

Product Features
The McDATA QPM 4 Gb 4-port Blade is a field-replaceable card that boosts link speeds to 4 Gb/s. The McDATA QPM 4 Gb 4-port Blade includes the following features:
- Can fully populate 6140-series chassis (up to 35 per 6140)
- Can be used along with UPM 2 Gb/s port modules
- Uses hot-pluggable optical transceivers
Switch Requirements
The minimum required EOS firmware version is 9.0.
The Sun document Read Me First - Important Installation Instructions for the McDATA QPM Blade, part number 819-6403-10, is packaged with the QPM Blade. This document contains important information to help you install the necessary firmware and optional management software for the QPM Blade.
