Firmware Version E/OSn 9.1 Release Notes

This document contains important information about the firmware version 9.1, which is used with the McDATA Intrepid 10000 Director.

Read this document so that you are aware of issues or requirements that can impact the installation and operation of the McDATA Intrepid 10000 Director in a Sun Storage Area Network (SAN).

Features in This Release

SWX and LMQ Support

This release of the firmware supports the SWX Switch Card and LMQ 4-Gbps Line Module for the Intrepid 10000 Director.



Note - The Intrepid 10000 Director must be running E/OSn 9.1 prior to installation of SWX or LMQ hardware.




Switch Firmware Requirements

Firmware version E/OSn 9.1 is the minimum firmware version for the McDATA Intrepid 10000 Director. For other switches in the fabric, the minimum EOS firmware version is E/OSc 9.1.

Upgrade any McDATA Intrepid 10000 Directors to firmware version E/OSn 9.1, using the upgrade process described in the patch, available from http://sunsolve.sun.com.

Downloading and Installing Patches

This section provides instructions for downloading and installing patch 122186-02 for Firmware Version E/OSn 9.1 patch, used with the McDATA Intrepid 10000 directors.

Caution - Do not use Internet Explorer version 5.00.3315.1000x. This version could cause the firmware downloads to fail.




procedure icon  To Download and Install the Patches

Use the following procedure to retrieve the patches for your OS and the patch for the 9.1 firmware.

1. Access the SunSolve web site at:

http://sunsolve.sun.com

2. Accept the terms and conditions of the license agreement.

3. Click Patches and Updates under the Support category.

4. For each patch that you want to download, following these steps:

a. Under PatchFinder, type the patch ID and click Find Patch.

Do not type the -xx revision number. PatchFinder automatically finds the latest patch.

b. Verify that you have retrieved the correct patch.

c. Print the page by doing one of the following:



Note - Printing this page also prints the patch README file, which contains the installation instructions, special instructions, special guidelines, and notes.



d. Download the patch by clicking on either HTTP or FTP in the following line:

Download Patch (nn,nnn,nnn bytes) HTTP FTP

e. When you have finished downloading all the patches, install the patches by following the instructions in each patch README file.


Known Issues and Bugs

The following bug has been reported against this firmware release.

After a power cycle, port names, blocked ports, and allow/prohibit matrix entries are reset to default.

Workaround - Enable the Active=Saved option, using either of these methods:



Note - This activity can be done regardless of whether the FMS key is installed.



a. Select Product > Management Style.

A dialog box displays a choice of Open Systems or FICON.

b. Select FICON.

c. Go to Configure allow/prohibit matrix.

d. Select active.
