Internationalization Overview

The Oracle Insurance Policy Administration (OIPA) system can be configured for use in any language.  The Rules Palette contains the tools that are used to configure the system for use in multiple languages and multiple currencies.  The available tools are described below.

Localization Editor: Allows you to enter translations for the underlying application displays, such as the navigation and table displays, as well as displays for transactions, segments, and dynamic field elements.  When a user signs in to OIPA, the locale associated with that user's profile details will determine the language that is used for navigation, tables, dynamic field elements and transaction and segments.  You are also prompted for translations for each language when you configure a new transaction or segment in the Rules Palette.  It is important you do this when checking-in or you will not see the associated activity or segment in OIPA.

The Localization Editor also allows you to control decimal displays for currencies.  Each locale will have an associated decimal display that is stored in the AsTranslation table with the key Number.Decimal.

Translation Check-in Window:  Allows you to enter a translation for each new transaction, segment or business rule that is added to the Rules Palette.  If you do not enter a value for each locale you have defined in the Localization Editor then this window will continue to display each time you check-in the transaction, segment or business rule.

Currency Editor:  Allows you to manage multiple currencies within the OIPA system.  The currency information is displayed according to the international standards outlined in the ISO 4217 Currency Names and Codes Element Table.  The Currency Editor allows you to define and update the currency names and rounding methods.  Currency codes cannot be edited.
