The Suspense option on the Main Menu allows you to create suspense records and search for suspense records. Suspense records are used to track and hold money in a suspense account. Suspense accounts are created in the Rules Palette. You can associate the suspense records that you create with an existing suspense account.
When you create a suspense record, OIPA automatically populates the Attached Amount, Status and Suspense Number fields. You can click the accounting icon to see the accounting details for the suspense record. Each suspense record status is open until applied to a policy. It is then closed when all suspense money is applied.
Steps to Create a New Suspense Record
Select Suspense from the Main menu and click Suspense Records.
Enter the policy number where the monies will be applied.
Enter the amount of money associated with the suspense record.
Enter any other necessary financial information.
Select Save. A suspense number is generated and will appear in the suspense number field.
Note: Suspense records can only be deleted if they are in Open status and are not attached to a policy. If the Delete button is not visible, then the suspense record cannot be deleted.
