Modify master data types

Before you begin

You cannot modify a master data type if any master data entries based on that type exist. You must first delete all the master data entries based on the master data type. See Delete master data entries.

If you want to save existing master data entry information, you can export it to an XML file, edit it to fit the modified master data type, then import it back. See Export, edit, and import master data.

To modify a master data type :

  1. Make sure no master data entries of this master data type exist. Either delete them or export them to an XML file. See Before you begin, above.
  2. In the left pane of the Console, click Master Data Types.
  3. On the Available Master Data Types page, click the name of the master data type you want to modify.
  4. On the Master Data Type Details page, edit the details of the master data type. For more information about working in this page, see Configuration Options
  5. Click Save.

After you finish

If you exported and modified master data entries to comply with the changes you made to this master data type, you can now import them back. See Export, edit, and import master data.
