BPM Web Applications Configuration Options

Describes configuration options under the BPM Web Applications tab

The following settings are available in the BPM Web Applications tab of the Configuration dialog box:

Preferences

JDK Home Folder - Points to the location of the JDK which the BPM Web Applications will use. In the Windows and Linux versions, the default path points to the JDK included in the Admin Center installation. A different JDK can be specified, but this is not recommended. In versions which do not include a JDK, the default JDK is the one set during installation.
Note: Do not select the path of a JRE. ALBPM requires some files which are only included in a JDK, and will not work with a JRE.
Port - The port where the BPM Web Applications context accepts HTTP requests for enabled Web applications such as Process Administrator or Workspace. In the application server editions this only applies to Process Administrator. The default HTTP port for ALBPM 6.0 is 8686.
Shutdown Port - The port used by the BPM Web Applications server to receive shutdown requests. The default shutdown port for ALBPM 6.0 is 8886.
When BPM Web Applications are running, run the following: - Use the check boxes in this section to enable or disable the various Web applications and services. For most installations, at least Workspace and Workspace Administrator will be enabled. The following applications and services can be set:
- Workspace
- RSS Feeds service
- Workspace Administrator
- Archive Viewer
- PAPI Web services
Note: This setting is only available in the Standalone Edition. Web applications in other editions are controlled from the Web application server.
Request confirmation on exit when BPM Web Applications are running - If this option is selected and Web applications are not installed as a service, a dialog box will remind the user that shutting down Admin Center will stop BPM Web applications running on it, and ask for confirmation before doing so. In the Web application servers editions, this only applies to Process Administrator.

Install as Service

Note: This section is only featured under Windows.

Service name - The name the service will be identified with. The default name for this service is "BPM Web Applications". To give it a custom name, enter the name in the text box. You must set the name before installing the service.
Install as Windows Service or Uninstall as Windows Service - If BPM Web Applications context is not installed as a Windows service, this button will be labeled Install as a Windows Service. In this case, click on it to install the BPM Web Applications context as a service in the operating system.
If the BPM Web Applications context is installed as a service, this button will be labeled Uninstall as a Windows Service. Click on it to uninstall the service.

In either case, the change takes effect immediately.

This option is disabled if the BPM Web applications context is running, so you must stop BPM Web applications before using it. When installing, Admin Center sets the service to Manual. You can set it to Automatic or Disabled from the Windows Services utility. If set to Automatic, the service will start on system startup. If set to Disabled, the only way to start the service from Admin Center is by uninstalling and installing the service, which effectively sets the startup type to Manual again.
