Some work items require that you send them to the next activity after performing a task. Other work items might give you the option of sending them to the next activity while waiting on another task that cannot yet be performed. For work items that contain a single mandatory task, they usually go the next (end) activity automatically after the mandatory task is performed.
To send a work item to the next activity:
To display a list of work items, in the left pane, click a view name.
In the right pane, click the checkbox for the work item you want to send.
In the Work Item toolbar, click the Send Work Item button.
