Installation Guide for AquaLogic BPM

Upgrade

This chapter describes how to upgrade to BEA AquaLogic BPM 5.7 MP2 from earlier versions. The instructions vary depending on if the AquaLogic BPM directory is stored in an Oracle database or any other backend system.

All other versions to AquaLogic BPM 5.7.
Follow the procedures in the Fuego BPM 5 Migration Guide: Migrating from Version 5.1 to Version 5.5. Apply service packs to SP11. Then, follow the procedures in this chapter.

Upgrading to AquaLogic BPM Designer 5.7 MP2

The AquaLogic BPM Designer 5.7 MP2 package must be applied to an ALBPM Designer 5.7 SP1 system. If you are upgrading from ALBPM Designer 5.7, you must first apply SP1. The same procedure is used to install either package.

To upgrade to ALBPM Designer 5.7 MP2 from 5.7 or 5.7 SP1:

  1. Download the ALBPM Designer 5.7 update package from Product Center:
    1. If you are upgrading from ALBPM Designer 5.7, download the ALBPM Designer 5.7 SP1 package.
    2. If you are upgrading from ALBPM Designer 5.7 SP1, download the ALBPM Designer 5.7 MP2 package.
  2. In ALBPM Designer, select File | Update | Designer Local Update...
  3. Select the ALBPM Designer 5.7 update package you are installing.
  4. Click OK.
  5. When the update is complete, restart ALBPM Designer.

Upgrading to AquaLogic BPM Studio 5.7 MP2

The AquaLogic BPM Studio 5.7 MP2 package must be applied to an ALBPM Studio 5.7 SP1 system. If you are upgrading from ALBPM Studio 5.7, you must first apply SP1 and then apply MP2. The same procedure is used to install either package.

To upgrade to ALBPM Studio 5.7 MP2 from 5.7 or 5.7 SP1:

  1. Download the ALBPM Studio 5.7 update package from Product Center:
    1. If you are upgrading from ALBPM Studio 5.7, download the ALBPM Studio 5.7 SP1 package.
    2. If you are upgrading from ALBPM Studio 5.7 SP1, download the ALBPM Studio 5.7 MP2 package.
  2. In ALBPM Studio, select File | Update | Studio Local Update...
  3. Select the ALBPM Studio 5.7 update package you are installing.
  4. Click OK.
  5. When the update is complete, restart ALBPM Studio.

Upgrading to AquaLogic BPM Enterprise Standalone 5.7 MP2

The AquaLogic BPM Enterprise Standalone 5.7 MP2 package must be applied to an ALBPM Enterprise Standalone 5.7 SP1 system. If you are upgrading from ALBPM Enterprise Standalone 5.7, you must first apply SP1 and then apply MP2. The same procedure is used to install either package.

To upgrade to ALBPM Enterprise Standalone 5.7 MP2 from 5.7 or 5.7 SP1:

  1. Download the ALBPM Enterprise Standalone 5.7 update package from Product Center:
    1. If you are upgrading from ALBPM Enterprise Standalone 5.7, download the ALBPM Enterprise Standalone 5.7 SP1 package.
    2. If you are upgrading from ALBPM Enterprise Standalone 5.7 SP1, download the ALBPM Enterprise Standalone 5.7 MP2 package.
  2. Backup any customized WorkSpace JSPs or configuration files (for example, web.xml). Installing the Maintenance Pack may overwrite your customizations.
  3. In the ALBPM Process Administrator, stop the Process Execution Engine.
  4. In the ALBPM Admin Center, stop the ALBPM Web Application Server.
  5. In ALBPM Admin Center, upgrade ALBPM 5.7:
    1. Click Configuration.
    2. Click the Service Pack Updates tab.
    3. Click Local Update.
    4. Select the ALBPM Enterprise Standalone 5.7 MP2 package.
    5. Click OK.
  6. Remove generated JSP files by deleting all directories under:
    • <INSTALL_DIR>/enterprise/tomcat/work/Catalina/localhost
    • <INSTALL_DIR>/enterprise/cache
  7. Copy your customized WorkSpace JSPs and configuration files back to the ALBPM file structure.
  8. In the ALBPM Admin Center, start the ALBPM Web Application Server.
  9. In the ALBPM Process Administrator, start the Process Execution Engine.

Upgrading to AquaLogic BPM Enterprise WebLogic or WebSphere 5.7 MP2

The AquaLogic BPM Enterprise WebLogic or WebSphere 5.7 MP2 package must be applied to an ALBPM Enterprise WebLogic or WebSphere 5.7 SP1 system. If you are upgrading from ALBPM Enterprise WebLogic or WebSphere 5.7, you must first apply SP1. The same procedure is used to install either package.

To upgrade to ALBPM Enterprise WebLogic or WebSphere 5.7 MP2 from 5.7 or 5.7 SP1:

  1. Download the ALBPM Enterprise WebLogic or WebSphere 5.7 update package from Product Center:
    1. If you are upgrading from ALBPM Enterprise WebLogic or WebSphere 5.7, download the ALBPM Enterprise WebLogic or WebSphere 5.7 SP1 package.
    2. If you are upgrading from ALBPM Enterprise WebLogic or WebSphere 5.7 SP1, download the ALBPM Enterprise WebLogic or WebSphere 5.7 MP2 package.
  2. In the ALBPM Process Administrator, stop the Process Execution Engine.
  3. In the ALBPM Admin Center, stop the ALBPM Web Application Server.
  4. Stop the WebLogic or WebSphere application server.
  5. In ALBPM Admin Center, upgrade ALBPM 5.7:
    1. Click Configuration.
    2. Click the Service Pack Updates tab.
    3. Click Local Update.
    4. Select the ALBPM Enterprise WebLogic or WebSphere 5.7 MP2 package.
    5. Click OK.
  6. Reinstall fuegoj2ee-lib-all.jar in your application server:
    • On WebLogic, copy <INSTALL_DIR>/albpm5.7/j2eewl/j2ee/common/lib/fuegoj2ee-lib-all.jar to the shared libraries directory of the AquaLogic BPM WebLogic domain.
    • On WebSphere, create a sahred library instance for <INSTALL_DIR>/albpm5.7/j2eews/j2ee/common/lib/fuegoj2ee-lib-all.jar.
  7. In the ALBPM Admin Center, start the ALBPM Web Application Server.
  8. Regenerate the Engine, WorkSpace, and WorkSpace Administrator WAR/EAR files and redeploy them to the WebLogic or WebSphere container.
  9. In the ALBPM Process Administrator, start the Process Execution Engine.
  10. Start WebLogic or WebSphere.

Upgrading to AquaLogic BPM 5.7 with an Oracle backend

To upgrade to AquaLogic BPM 5.7:

  1. Export the ALBPM 5.5 directory data from the database using Oracle tools. For details, consult your DBA.
  2. Install AquaLogic BPM 5.7 using the instructions in Installation. When given the option to create a new directory or use an existing directory, create a new directory on your Oracle database. The AquaLogic BPM schema will be created.
  3. Import the directory data you exported into the new AquaLogic BPM schema using Oracle tools. For details on how to use the Oracle, consult your DBA.
  4. Uninstall ALBPM 5.5.

Upgrading to AquaLogic BPM 5.7 with a non-Oracle backend

To upgrade to AquaLogic BPM 5.7:

  1. Install AquaLogic BPM 5.7 using the instructions in Installation. When given the option to create a new directory or use an existing directory, use the existing directory.
  2. Uninstall ALBPM 5.5.
