Configure Engine Services Properties

The Engine Services properties determine how instances are disposed and how engines connect to various services.

To configure Engine Services properties:

    1. In the left pane of Process Administrator, click Engines.

    2. In the right pane, on the Engines page, click the engine Name.

    3. On the Engines | Edit Engines page, click the Services tab.

    4. Configure the following properties and click Save.

Disposer Latency

Determines how often (in days) expired instances are removed from the engine database. If a large number of expired instances are kept in the engine database, it can affect the engine's performance, since the instances still need to be processed.

If the Archiving option is selected, disposed instances are saved to an archive database.

Instance Expiration

After an instance reaches its End state, or it has been aborted, it will expire after this time elapses. Shorter Instance Expiration times results in fewer completed instances residing in the engine database. Expired instances are removed from the engine database when the Disposer runs.

Disposer Starting Time Determines the initial start time for the Disposer. Subsequent executions of the Disposer occur based on the Disposer Latency.
Dispose Disabled Participants When selected, disabled participants are removed from the organization when the Disposer runs.
Archiving When selected, disposed instances are saved to an archive database. Click Create a New Configuration to enter properties for the archive database.
Enable IPC Service When selected, enables inter-process communication between processes on separate engines.
IPC Service Port The port number the engine will use for IPC communication.
Maximum Incoming Connections

The maximum number of external IPC connections an engine will accept.

Enable Socket Factory Service When selected, allows the engine to interrupt tasks that have timed out so that resources can be released.
Web Services Listener Port The port number for any processes that are exposed as Web Services.
Max Incoming Connections The maximum number of connections allowed for the Web Service port.
Enable SSL When selected, enables Secure Socket Layer (SSL) for the connection to Web Services.
Protocol The SSL protocol for the Web Services connection.
Keystore file Specifies a keystore file for the Web Services connection.
Keystore password Specifies the password to the keystore file.
JRMP Adaptor Enabled When selected, allows connection to the JMX Console with the JRMP Adaptor.
JRMP Adaptor Port Specifies the port for the JRMP Adaptor.
HTTP Adaptor Enabled When selected, allows connection to the JMX Console with the HTTP Adaptor.
HTTP Adaptor Port Specifies the port for the HTTP Adaptor.
Enable SNMP Service When selected, allows SNMP monitoring of the engine's status and performance.
SNMP Agent Port Specifies the port for the SNMP agent.
SNMP Manager Host Specifies the SNMP host that will receive the engine information.
SNMP Manager Port Specifies the remote console port that will receive the SNMP information.
SNMP Log Level Determines the level of SNMP messages posted to the engine log.
SNMP READ Community To override the default READ password, select the checkbox and enter the new password.
SNMP WRITE Community To override the default WRITE password, select the checkbox and enter the new password.
