Engine failover is configured by creating a backup location for the engine. The primary and secondary locations for the engine are created on different host machines that each have AquaLogic BPM installed. The BPM Web Applications servers for both machines need to be configured to use the same Directory from the Admin Center | Configuration | Directory tab and both BPM Web Application contexts need to be running.
To configure engine failover:
In the left pane of the Process Administrator for the primary engine location, click Engines.
From the Engines list, select the Name of the engine.
On the Engines | Edit Engine enginename page, on the Basic Configuration tab, click Engine Nodes. The first location listed is the primary location for the engine.
Verify that the engine is running in its primary location and displays a Status of "Ready."
On the Engines | Edit Engine enginename | Locations page, click Add.
Under Location Configuration, enter the name of the machine that will Host the secondary location for the engine.
Verify that the Port number that will be used for the secondary engine location is unique.
Click Save.
In the left pane of the Process Administrator for the secondary engine location, click Engines.
From the Engines list, select the Name of the engine.
On the Engines | Edit Engine enginename page, on the Basic Configuration tab, click Engine Nodes. The second location listed is the secondary engine location.
Start the engine from the secondary engine location. The status for the secondary engine location will change to "Primary server backup."
Repeat these steps to configure additional backup engine locations.
