Configure an Engine to Use Activity E-mail

The following procedure documents how to send e-mail notifications for a process execution engine on WebSphere.

In the Process Administrator, configure the engine Network properties :

    1. In the left pane, click Engines.

    2. In the right pane, on the Engines page, click the engine Name.

    3. On the Engines | Edit Engine page, click the Networking tab.

    4. Configure the following properties and click Save.

 
Mail Session JNDI Name Should match the JNDI Name for the Mail Session in WebSphere.
Mail Server Name The mail server used by the engine when sending e-mail notifications.
Administrator Email Replies to messages sent by the engine are routed to this e-mail address (which also receives log messages as determined by the Log properties).
WorkSpace URL The URL for logging in to WorkSpace (usually http://host:port/WorkPortal/).

In the WebSphere Administrative Console, configure a mail session:

    1. In the left pane, click Resources | Mail Providers.

    2. In the right pane, on the Mail Providers page, click the Built-in Mail Provider.

    3. On the Mail Providers | Built-in Mail Provider page, under Additional Properties, click Mail Sessions.

    4. On the Mail Providers | Built-in Mail Provider | Mail Sessions page, click New.

    5. On the Mail Providers | Built-in Mail Provider | Mail Sessions | New page, enter the following General Properties and click OK.

 
Name The name for the new mail session.
JNDI Name Must match the Mail Session JNDI Name for the engine in the Process Administrator.
Mail Transport Host The mail server used by the engine in the Process Administrator, in the following format:
mail.host=servername.com
    1. On the Mail Providers | Built-in Provider | Mail Sessions page, under Messages, click Save.

    2. On the Mail Providers | Built-in Provider | Mail Sessions |Save page, click Save.

Note: In order for the activity notification e-mail to be sent to a participant in the ALI portal, the participant must have entered an e-mail address in their personal preferences for the Worklist Portlets or an administrator must have entered an e-mail address for the participant in the ALI portal user properties.
