Setting Paths in the Business Component Editor

Each file in a project is stored with a relative path to the location of the .jpx file. BCED uses the source root directories and output root directory to find source files and save compiled class files, respectively. Each project file must be located somewhere on the project source path, set on the Paths page of the Project Properties dialog.

Changing Your Path Settings

BCED provides two default directories for the projects you create. Your source files go into the Projects Directory, which is named myprojects. Your output files are created in the Classes Directory, which is named myclasses. You can view these directory paths in the System Properties wizard.

To change the Source or Output directories for your project, type the path to the new directory in the Project Directory or Class Directory textboxes or click the corresponding Browse.

The Help Path Settings

The Help files for BCED are normally located in [BCE_HOME]/docs (on Windows platforms c:[BCE_HOME]\docs). To change the directory for the Help files, type the path to the new directory in the Help Directory textbox or click Browse.

Defining a Browser for Help Contents

BCED has two separate help systems. The Help buttons on the various wizards and editors access the F-1 Help (so-called because on some operating systems, pressing the F-1 key will invoke the ICE Browser with a context-sensitive page). The Help | Help Contents menu item accesses the documentation, which includes overviews, walkthroughs, and tutorials. There are limitations to the ICE Browser implementation in this release and therefore you need to define your preferred browser to access the Help Contents.

Enter the path to your preferred browser in the Command to Invoke Browser textbox or click Browse. The browser you select must support frames.

Setting Oracle Home Directory

The Oracle Home is used to locate your Oracle TNSNAMES.ORA file. This information is used by the Connection Manager.

Enter the path to the base directory of your local Oracle installation in the Oracle Home Directory textbox or click Browse.
