The Oracle® JDeveloper Business Component Editor (BCED) is a Java-based editor used for creating business components. It employs Oracle Business Components for Java, a standards-based, server-side framework for creating scalable, high-performance Internet applications. The framework provides design-time facilities to drastically simplify the task of building, customizing, and reusing business logic.
Note: BCED is also available as a component of Oracle JDeveloper 3.2, an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) available from the Oracle Store for Windows® NT and Windows® 2000.
The same application component can be deployed as JavaServer Pages (JSP), Java servlets, Enterprise JavaBeans™ (EJB), or CORBA components without modification to the application code. This unique deployment flexibility allows companies to deploy the same application onto a variety of deployment servers and to distribute the same application to a variety of clients including Web browsers, and handheld and wireless mobile devices.
The Oracle Business Components framework allows application developers to deliver new capability faster by extending and customizing application components using XML metadata, without requiring access to the underlying business component source code.
The following figure is an example of what you would see when you run BCED:

The menu bar displays the commands available to you in BCED:
The toolbar displays a number of icons, each representing an object that can be created with BCED. Click the icon to start the corresponding object wizard:

The Structure pane displays a structural analysis of the currently selected object in the Navigation pane.
The Text View pane displays the contents of the currently selected object in the Navigation pane. You cannot edit the data in this pane with this release of BCED.
