Installation Instructions

There are four installation steps that must be completed in order to install OIPA and the Rules Palette application. Each step has a corresponding guide. The guides are listed below in the order in which they should be completed.

OIPA Database Installation Instructions

This guide should be used to assist with the installation of the database. Topics covered include creating users, granting privileges and configuring the database. Supported database types are Oracle 11G (11.2.0.2), DB2 9.7 FixPack 6 and SQL 2008 R2 SP1.


This is the first installation guide that should be completed. This guide is for the database administrator.

This guide should be used to assist with the deployment of the OIPA application and the Web Application Utility on the WebSphere application server.


This is the second installation guide that should be completed. This guide is for the build manager.

Oracle Installer Instructions

This guide provides instructions for the Oracle Installer, which automates the installation of Oracle Insurance Policy Administration (OIPA), Oracle Insurance Rules Palette (OIRP), Web Application Utility, Oracle cycle agent, Oracle cycle client and OIPA database schemas in an Oracle database.


If using an Oracle database and WebLogic application server, this installer can be used instead of the steps in the WebLogic Deployment Installation Instructions document. This guide is for the build manager and the database administrator.

Upgrade Utility

This guide contains instructions for using the Upgrade Utility, which is available for users upgrading from 9.4.0.0 to 9.5.0.0 and from 9.5.0.0 to 9.6.0.0. The Upgrade Utility provides an automated method for updating the database schema and updating XML syntax, in order to combat backwards compatibility issues.
