How do I sign in using the Kerberos authentication mechanism?

If you use the Kerberos authentication mechanism, you don't need to enter a User name and Password to sign in to the Oracle Calendar desktop client. You just need to acquire a Kerberos ticket.

To set up your wireless information:

  1. Acquire a Kerberos ticket, or if you have one already, make sure that it is still valid.
  2. Start Oracle Calendar.
  3. In the Sign-In dialog box, select the newly created Kerberos connection profile from the Connect to list.
The User name and Password fields are disabled. This is because your user ID is determined by the Kerberos ticket which also doubles as your password.
  4. Click Sign-in.

If you have scheduled a Web conference for a meeting request you created but the Oracle Web Conferencing server is down, the Web conference will not be created on the server. Contact your administrator for more information.

If you are regularly experiencing a problem with a pending Web conference ID, it could be that there is a configuration error between the calendar server and the Web conferencing server.

The Oracle Calendar desktop client requires a persistent connection to the network when working online. Prior to the release of Oracle Collaboration Suite 10g Calendar, the "Server unavailable" message would appear and the Oracle Calendar desktop client would close when the connection to the calendar server was lost.

As of release 10.1.1, if the connection to the Oracle Calendar server is lost for some reason, you will be prompted with a message asking you if you want to switch to your offline Agenda. When the calendar server connection is restored, you will be prompted to switch back to your online Agenda.

What is a MIME-encoded attachment?

If a user creates a calendar entry using Oracle Connector for Outlook and attaches multiple files to the entry, a file named Mime-Encoded-Attachment.txt is attached to the entry in the Oracle Calendar desktop client instead of the files that were attached by the entry owner because currently, the Oracle Calendar desktop client supports only one attachment per entry. You can, however, view the files without any problems if you open the entry in Oracle Connector for Outlook.

Why do I receive scrambled text or no output when I print from the Oracle Calendar desktop client?

The Linux and Solaris clients only support Postscript-compatible printers. The printer you use must be configured to interpret data in Postscript format. Some printer setups interpret data as a text file, and then wrap the file in a Postscript header. The result is several pages of printed Postscript source code. As a workaround, you can print to file, then use a Postscript viewer to view and print the .ps file. Contact your calendar administrator for more information.

Why do I get an error message when I click the Search button from the Sign-in dialog box?

You cannot perform a directory search using the Search button (magnifying glass) from the Sign-In dialog box. The "Directory searches are not allowed while configuring a connection on the server" error message appears when the magnifying glass is selected.

This issue is caused by a default server-side parameter that restricts directory searches before a user logs in.
