Oracle Application Server Standard Edition One is a new offering from Oracle designed for small to medium-sized businesses or for departmental implementation.This platform, along with Oracle Database Standard Edition One, provides the same mission-critical functionality as Standard Edition, but is optimized to allow smaller organizations to roll out simple solutions quickly through prebuilt, out-of-the-box functionality that is easy to deploy and manage.
Some of the features and functionality described in documentation that is included in Oracle Application Server Standard Edition One 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) documentation library may only be applicable to the Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) product. To utilize some of the features and functionality that are described, you may need to upgrade to the 10.1.2 product. Contact Oracle Support for more information.
This document contains the release information for Oracle Application Server Standard Edition One. It describes differences between Oracle Application Server Standard Edition One and its documented functionality.
Oracle recommends you review this document before installing, or working with the product.
Oracle Application Server installation and configuration will not complete successfully unless all hardware and software prerequisites are met before installation. Refer to Oracle Application Server Installing and Getting Started with Standard Edition One for a complete list of operating system requirements.
Oracle Application Server Standard Edition One 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) is certified to run as a 32-bit application on the following Linux x86-64 platforms:
Section 1.3.1.1, "Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES 3.0, Update 3 or higher (AMD64 / Intel EM64T)"
Section 1.3.1.2, "SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 (AMD64 / Intel EM64T)"
All the documentation for Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/E 3.0 included in the Oracle Application Server Installing and Getting Started with Standard Edition One guide is applicable for Linux x86-64, including the requirements, kernel parameter requirements, and mandatory preinstallation checks. The steps are also applicable to Linux 86-64. In addition to those requirements, note the following:

To install 32-bit packages on a 64-bit system, you may need to use the --force option and the --nodeps option of the rpm utility.
Always use 32-bit shell emulation, use the following command before running the installer and any other Oracle Application Server commands or scripts:
